And just out of nowhere is a band new Beck album. I'm sure these things seem to creep up on you. Gone are the months of plugging and radio/ magazine promotion in favour of rush releasing records before some spoddy nugget thinks he's doing the world a favour by uploading it to the internet. Maybe you wouldn't get to hear it otherwise if you didn't download it for free but that's what people have done for years. They had to buy the things.... Now cos folks can get it for free they think it's their right to be able to find anything for free. Doesn't matter that loads of hard work goes into these things.... mmmm... rant aside this new Beck album is surprisingly good. I remember seeing him off my tits at the Leeds festival with Brian and some guy thought I was Moby. So much so he wanted his photo taken with me. What a twat. I've always thought Beck is a bit of a genius and this album is already hitting the right chords on first listen. Produced by Danger Mouse (this months favourite) and featuring Chan Marshall this is a complete pop album from start to end. There's a complete mish mash of ideas but its a thoroughly coherent pop album where he styles range from 60's flower child, electronica, alt rock, singer songwriter. It's fucking great actually and if you're a fan of Beck then this will keep you sweet!
