"God is dead, so I listen to Radiohead" That is fucking genius and forms part of the nihilist baiting verse on Fuck Dress's 'Suburban Nietzsche Freak' which is kinda like Prolapse pissing all over These New Puritans' bookshelf. It's a monotone, scratchy sarcastic indiefest & I bloody love it. It's even on grey vinyl for added monochrome frown action. Phil thinks it's good but the lyrics are "a bit naff", this from a man who runs out of the door on a Friday teatime brandishing German elevator muzak compilations laughing like a lunatic in drag. Strange chap but I do love him! The flip is like A House full of pissed off Nightingales and I'd like to think every song they do sounds the same AND THEY'LL NEVER MAKE AN ALBUM BECAUSE IT'S POINTLESS.....NROne records do the do... What the label says: A limited edition silver/grey vinyl debut 7" from Fuck Dress, a new band out of the ashes of Fiel Garvie and Passing Clouds. Ranting commentary full of Fall-esque goodness with freaky, neat, rhythm and rhyme, with streams of semi-spoken ejaculate that'll be on everyone's lips this summer: "God is dead so I listen to Radiohead" - wise words from Norwich "the most Godless city in the UK" (Census 2001). Underpinned by insistent boy/girl vocal trading and interjection, abrasive guitar action, big basslines and upfront, forceful, visually eccentric primeval drumming, Fuck Dress have already tempted Tom Robinson to give them a spin on BBC 6Music. About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
