What we say
This record left our Brett feeling happy.
Psychedelic Horeshit's a great name isn't it, I imagine it's what you'd see a lot of if you ran a farm and fed the animals solely on Maoams. 'New Wave Hippies' is pretty great value with five tracks for your pounds and perusal, with the sides playing at different speeds just to confuse you (or maybe just me). This is about as lo-fi as it gets but it's certainly interesting, with incidental pieces and odd acoustic singalongs cuddling up next to noisy twiddling, the odd electronic beat and the title track, a buzzy little pisstake of tree huggers that's well catchy. It makes Phil feel like he's eighteen again, tomorrow we'll come in and find him wearing a t-shirt that's two sizes too small with 'INXS' written on the front.

OVERVIEW: “They’ve been chased off stage in more states than seem possible in their short existence, but all the tour stories wouldn’t be worth an eighth of a shit if the music wasn’t the most heart-poundingly great racket since that My Bloody Valentine covers record Comets On Fire never made.” – Vice Magazine “White, discordant noise that makes My Bloody Valentine look as ear-friendly as Girls Aloud.” – The Fly Psychedelic Horseshit are Matt (guitar, keyboard and voice) and Rich (drums). They live in Columbus, Ohio, USA. “We were never in any other bands. We didn’t know that there were any other bands. We thought it was just us and the Royal Trux.” Psychedelic Horseshit formed on a whim, coined the term ‘shitgaze’ and are considered by the Columbus cognoscenti as the "little brother band" (Stooges-style) to Times New Viking (MC5-style). They first came about as three buddies determined to crash a hippie fest and jam. When asked for their name, singer/guitarist Matt replied, "Just call us Psychedelic Horseshit." The band killed, the name stuck, and thus the die was ignominiously cast. SUPER LIMITED (300 COPIES) 5 TRACK 7” EP OF SHEER NOISE MADNESS ‘New Wave Hippies’ is taken from their debut album ‘Magic Flowers Droned’, out now on Siltbreeze.
