What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Phil feeling happy.

764 Hero is folks from Modest Mouse/ Built To Spill and all of those bands who all seem to be from the same band. Sounds like all the rest of the stuff they do so if you're a fan yr gonna want it I guess. If not then you can just let it pass like the ships in the night. That's presuming you live near a dock, harbour or sea port etc.... Nobody Knows This Is Everywhere is on CD and LP

What the label says:

764-Hero were formed in 1995 by John Atkins (Hush Harbor) on guitar and vocals and Polly Johnson (Belle Jar) on drums. They released two 7"s followed by the full length "Salt Sinks and Sugar Floats" and then the EP "We're Solids", which was co-released by Suicide Squeeze records. In 1998 they hooked up with James Bertram (ex Lync, Red Stars Theory, and Beck) to play a live show on northwest radio staton KCMU (now KEXP). This went so well that they decided to all get together for the next album, "Get Here and Stay", recorded by Phil Ek. After several tours with Modest Mouse, both bands decided to go into the studio together and record a song that they had been playing together as the set closer, and so "Whenever You See Fit" was released, also a co-release with Suicide Squeeze. 764-Hero then went back into the studio to record, again with Phil Ek. This session produced the 7" Garrison as well as the full length "Weekends of Sound." After touring to support their new record, James Bertram left John and Polly, and he is now running Lucky Horse Industries with his wife Amanda. Around about this time, John joined up with long time friend Joe Plummer (ex Bare Minimum, Black Heart Procession) to work on some songs that he didn't feel fit in with 764-Hero, and so the Magic Magicians were born. They released the album "Girls" in February 2001 on Suicide Squeeze. Robin Peringer joined 764-Hero at this point and they went on to record their next record "Nobody Knows This Is Everywhere" for Tiger Style. Sadly, 764-Hero broke up shortly after the tour they did to support this new record. In July of 2002, overseas record label 7 e.p. released a compilation of 764-Hero in Japan. But fear not, true believer - hope still lives! The Magic Magicians released a new record in June 2003. Reknowned artist Raymond Pettibon did the artwork for this new record. Beyond that, John has a new band named The Can't See, whose debut LP released in early 2006. They are currently scheduled for a Japanese tour followed by an extended tour of the US with Band of Horses during Summer, 2006!
