What we say
This record left our Brian feeling ecstatic.
New York is a humongous city constantly full of rising talent ranging
from the sublime to the ridiculous so it comes as no surprise that those
cool retro dudes Soul Jazz Records feel the need to remind us where
it all began (in the post-punk era anyway!) We have here a mighty fine
CD & limited double vinyl entitled 'Noise' which encapsulates the
sheer range of inspired ideas, jerky sounds & liquid grooves of the
underground new wave set from '78 to '82. The amount of influence some
of these forgotten gems have had on todays 'fashionable' set can not be
underestimated, so if you dig music from electro to trashy, discordant
guitar femmes such as Erase Errata then this is your first testament.
Includes the likes of Liquid Liquid, ESG, Glen Branca & loads
of other long forgotten obscurities that really need some ears! Smashing.
