What we say

Rating: ecstatic This record left our Brian feeling ecstatic.

From the opposite end of the quality spectrum saunter Brummie krautrock 60's waltz gods BROADCAST with a new full lengther. Yes, that's BROADCAST. So good they have their name in big letters. Warp's best signing of the 90's bar Aphex & BOC. The band Stereolab never quite managed to be. We like these tons here at Normansville. We think the lady's voice tells us amazing things and we go to sleep humming their songs. This new album is called 'Ha Ha Sound' and is more of the same i.e. it's fantastic.. Limited CD in book, bog standard CD in a jewel case & slightly retro vinyl, in a futuristic way, of course!

What the label says:

“every note, every lyric, is perfect… HaHa Sound radiates impish pleasure - bliss that proves entirely infectious” 5/5 The Guardian

“glorious… the perfectionism here is palpable; but then, when something’s this perfect, you wonder why anybody else bothers” 5/5 Muzik

“Why settle for anything les than the best? HaHa Sound is a Mona Lisa of an album” 8/10 Vice Magazine

“transcend their cinematic influences effortlessly… Trish Keenan still conjures wondrous lyrical evocations of unspecific tenderness and yearning” 4/5 Mojo

“alternately breezy and sweet like candyfloss, and sinister like a clown…undeniably lovely” The Independent on Sunday

“Can a passion for obscure Morricone soundtracks, European art-house cinema and junk shop electronics really be channelled into great pop? Drop your avant-guard, for there are few places better to while away an hour than with a Broadcast album” Word Magazine

“it works beautifully… the excessive detailing is a marvel… It’s a pop record, really, but its awareness of history and possibility removes it far from our expectations of pop. The sound of science moving backwards and forwards with, at its heart, a vocalist who humanises the experiment: still, true, emotionally constant” The Wire

“This is what visiting Martian hear when they fall in love with Earth girls…lovely and summery and melty” Bizarre
