Remember The Cure? Yeah that band fronted by a portly goth with the worst lipstick application skills in the northern hemisphere? Responsible for some of the most furiously enjoyable grumble pop ever? Well they went absolutely bobbins, split up 10 times & everyone ritually ignored them as they continued to release crap albums & do under whelming gigs at dilapidated castles in the countryside & appear on Dom Jolly's awful chat show. So it comes as an utter shock that their new single on Geffen is a blinder. Unmistakably The Cure, It's short, catchy, yearning & totally wonderful. A classic. Shame the album's a bit shat, like. We have it on old-skool 7" picture disc & may have a CD lying around somewhere but you don't want one of those horrible silver things DO YA???

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
