So what the heck has happened to Diefenbach?  The post rockin' Danes have gone all blissed out alt-radio rock on We Love You's Crimbo 7" bumper pack (Yule Love Us - arf). Not a bleat of Mogwai in sight. Just sounds like a shoe-gazey Mew style/Euro Slowdive thing. Not at all bad to be honest but hella confusing for the likes of Fat Barry who once released a record by the sweet bacon producing chaps. I really can't be arsed reviewing Shawn Lee, but The Girls sound like a acid-riffing/glam-er-ama fair prospect (these are the label's new signings ready to be splashed all over the NME @ a newsagents near you...) Fakesensations sound, well, fake! (didn't even play it to be honest, not with a shat name like that.....hehehe)

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
