What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Clint feeling happy.

Sometimes you can release too many records. Iron and Wine so far has released pretty much good quality stuff but on this new 6 track EP standards start to slip just ever so slightly. The first track is nice if a bit more bluesy than the Will Oldham meets Belle and Sebastian sound of yore .Next track 'Jezebel' is simply lovely and if anyone who is a fan of this hasn't listened to the new David Crosby/Graham Nash single...well then you should. The grizzled old warhorses still have the knack of working their way around a pretty melody. From then on the EP kinds of drifts past in a pleasant Crosby Stills and Nash haze but is kind of unaffecting. On Sub Pop.

About the humble 12":

The 12" is the big brother of records as it's an fatter version of the 7", with a vast scope for an array of remixes and B sides. They are slightly less portable their smaller inched brethren but they're by no means inferior. Often the grooves are spaced wider apart and thus sound much much better. You can fit ample tracks on and if worse comes to worse they make fine plates (should your crockery go awol). Yes, there's a hole but holes are easy to sort out. Once again they're available on many different colours and guises. The best thing about a 12" is the potential vastness of the artwork. Also playable on many speeds!!
