Speaking of They Might Be Giants,  there is absolutely no reason for them to exist now that Why? sounds even more like them than he did before. No doubt this great new EP/mini LP  will get called avant-hop or whatever but there's not a slither of hip hop in it whatsoever. The initial impression of this is of intense irritation as the lyrics are pure clever-clever wordy, nerdy American geek. But get past that and the melodies here are skyscrapingly beautiful. Immense pop songs full of imaginative arrangements and tunes that you will never get out of your system even if you could shake your whole body like a dog when it gets wet. Closer 'Mutant John' is the best thing ever. Go Buy. Sandollars is on 12"/CD.

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
