The Dead 60's are one of those bands I were convinced were gonna be huge but maybe I'm totally deaf. The 1st 2 singles should have been tearing up the airwaves on every radio in the land, being a scintillating blend of the Clash & the Specials compressed into a tidy ball for consumption in these fast moving disposable ages. So the debut album lands with a great retro pop art sleeve & a skanking boisterous attitude. There's seemingly an obsession with space invaders & an empathy with all the boredom & disillusionment this fine land has to offer. Also a keen feel for classic Mersey pop. Worthy labelmates of The Coral & The Zutons, their repertoire may be a little limited but these songs are simple, charismatic & fully formed belters. They need a home & may just keep you company on those cold winter nights. The vinyl has a FREE LP OF DUB VERSIONS (as does the CD... Fat x). Didn't UB40 do that?
