What we say

Rating: ecstatic This record left our Brian feeling ecstatic.

What is it about Tunng? Why are they soooo good? They have the magic that's why. Precious few bands achieve what they do. Simple, beautiful & lovingly layered songs that take you to another place. A land carpeted with woodland creatures, the finest wine, the prettiest girls, all imbued with a quietly sinister spirit, no malevolence, probably just mischief & a glinty eyed love of life. Majestic hazy melodies, perfect sunshine folk, charming samples, spine tingling effects, fascinating organic percussion (seashells, chimes, walrus fangs, dried eye of newt etc) These people are the Boards Of Canada of folk. A customer in love with the debut, 'Mothers daughter..' enquired whether we thought this newie 'Comments On The Inner Chorus' is as great. Well, it probably will be when we've heard it a few dozen times. It's a hard one to better, Bruce. There's a reprise halfway of  a track from the debut called 'Jenny again' & it fits so snugly in there that I can confidently say this will stand up head & shoulders with it's predecessor with confidence. Future folk for the special people. Leave yr boring Adem records at home & embrace the lay of the land, my son. LP/CD (CD has 2 extra tracks on exclusive to us little indies!)

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.
