What we say
This record left our Maggie feeling ecstatic.
Yo Yo.. Maggie
here.. the guys have saved the new album from the half french (they
always spout this on his press release, like it makes him slightly more
arty)
JEREMY WARMSLEY
cos they know I'm a secret fan. He's created some great awkward
pop songs for this year. The album opens with my particular favourite
Dirty Blue Jeans which is a pop song to start a weekend too. A
monumental whirlwird of nasel vocals and swirling instruments topped
off with a typhoon of cheeky hooks and lush harmonies. Such is the
ferocious marketing of
Transgressive
records, that if you've got his EP's then its not until track 5 that
you'll
hear unreleased new stuff and so it goes on. It almost feels like a
round up of previous recordings.....the cheeky marketing
department! (though they are all slightly reworked). Money spinner it
is, and it does dampen the excitement of a putting a fresh new album
on.
Any road it's not Jezzas fault and the rather plain cover hides a
brilliant album from a hard working ambitious young man. His attention
to detail in production and arrangement is awesome and to be admired.
Ok short of time .. could talk more about this album but lets leave it
that its a great album (singles roundup) and if you like
They Might be Giants or Mull Historical Society it's a must
have. Tres bien Jeremy.
