Rating: ecstatic This record left our Maggie feeling ecstatic.

This is a double 7" single/CD from BORN RUFFIANS and it's really the job. It's raw and slightly awkward but it's got an intimacy that draws you in. This comes from the choral abilities from Luke Lalonde which goes from screeching gospel to indie pop squawking. They're a 3 piece from Canada and it's out on XL. Its cool actually, if it's cheap I might buy one myself (or steal one cos I was born a ruffian too)

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
