What the label says:It’s been three years and several months of fortnights since the world was last graced with the sounds of The High Llamas — and, with a handful of exceptions, nearly as long since the Llamas were seen playing their pretty sounds in public. Given the BEET, MAIZE & CORN arrangements, which often removed the rhythm section of the band, leaving a spacious orchestral backing — not to mention the wistful nature of the songs themselves — some of us were given to wonder if The High Llamas were in the winter of their years. The High Llamas are one of alternative rock’s enduring bands, having survived the 90s putsch to make beautiful music in the New Millennium. |
