Now We have ARCADE FIRE and their new numbered single Keep The Car Running. I heard this single without knowing who it was and I was thinking this it was middle of the road 1980's rock like Bruce Springsteen. I was shocked to hear it was my previous loves Arcade Fire!! What happened? I was expecting something ground-breakingly new and exciting but instead its Echo And The Bunnymen in Canadian garb. Ok its still hints slightly at the anthemic crescendo of their previous work but sounds a rushed and simplified version of that body of work. They're still good though. B-side still has enough uniqueness to set them apart from other bands. Its sounds like Arcade Fire but the pieces don't hang quite so well. What the label says: Keep the Car Running, the first single from The Arcade Fire’s Neon Bible, will be released by Sonovox on March 19th. Keep the Car Running will be released as a download, and on limited edition numbered 7” vinyl backed with “Broken Window”.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
