What the label says:

To the delirious teenage hordes at London all-ages nights ‘Way Out West’ and ‘All Ages Concerts’, Cajun Dance Party are already heroes. The revelation is that, aged 16 and 17, they’re only midway through their teenage experiences. Danny Blumberg is the heroic frontman, who had never written words or music before joining Cajun Dance Party. Robbie Stern is a precociously talented songwriter, who’s as comfortable performing violin sonatas as he is wringing Johnny Marr flourishes from his guitar. Vicky Freund is the band’s ice-cool keyboard custodian who was discovered playing Destiny’s Child songs on Robbie’s mum’s piano at a party. Max Bloom is a musical polymath who learned the bass guitar from scratch in a matter of weeks. Will Vignoles is the sturdy presence behind the kit who holds Cajun Dance Party together. Together, these five nascent musical voyagers immersed themselves in records by The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Portishead, The Rolling Stones, The Shins, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Belle & Sebastian, Radiohead and Blur in an attempt to create a classic pop sound. By their fourth ever gig – a jubilant affair at Way Out West underneath Brentford football stadium – they had a proper manager. By their sixth gig, they were fending off an A&R scrum. In a review of their eighth gig, NME called them “a sensation”. Their debut single ‘The Next Untouchable’ and its accompanying flipside ‘Buttercups’ – two of the songs Robbie wrote during a month-long trip to the US before assembling the band – form a breathless, beatific document of where this young band are right now. They are a young London band who don’t want to be New Rave scenesters.
The tracks have been receiving multiple spins on Radio 1 from Jo Whiley, Zane Lowe, Colin Murray and Huw Stephens. Spins on 6 Music from Steve Lamacq. Feature and interview on Steve Lamacq's new Radio 2 program. Xfm - evening playlist in London and Manchester.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
