Soma have recently brought back this early pre-Warp material digitally remastered on double CD to great applause from technoheads old and new. ‘Book of Dogma’ is a complete history lesson in electronic music, essential listening for anyone remotely interested in the evolution of UK electronica. To compliment this, Soma are also re-releasing the act’s first 3 EPs. 1989’s debut EP, ‘Virtual’, was revived on 12” and released alongside the album. The group’s second ever EP, ‘Techno Playtime’, is now ready for similar treatment. Remastered to perfection, this six-tracker is at home on the biggest of soundsystems and is eagerly waiting to be unleashed onto new crowds. From the innocuous playfulness of the title track, ‘Techno Playtime’, and ‘Seers & Sages’ to the dark, brooding ‘It Felt Like It’, through the jazzy grooves of ‘Apt’ this shows all sides of The Black Dog.
