Ladyhawk: "Fight For Anarchy" (Jagjaguwar) Six tracks that immediately come across like the mans next version of a drunken Arcade Fire. They are in fact four brothers fascinated by the power of rawk 'n' booze and by the sound of all that squawling- don't give a shit- feedback. Apparently with an awesome live reputation, they combine acoustic strum, stoned drawl with equal parts 'foot up on the monitor posturing'- coming across much like J Masciss' Dinosaur Jr on a downer. What the label says: Ladyhawk are new on the scene, but they have quickly established themselves as a very special live act, and they are a band committed to touring. About the humble 12":

The 12" is the big brother of records as it's an fatter version of the 7", with a vast scope for an array of remixes and B sides. They are slightly less portable their smaller inched brethren but they're by no means inferior. Often the grooves are spaced wider apart and thus sound much much better. You can fit ample tracks on and if worse comes to worse they make fine plates (should your crockery go awol). Yes, there's a hole but holes are easy to sort out. Once again they're available on many different colours and guises. The best thing about a 12" is the potential vastness of the artwork. Also playable on many speeds!!
