Phil reckons that the Anemones debut 7" 'Vicious Attacks'sounds like a cross between The Velvet Underground's 'What goes On' and Spacemen 3. It's totally psyched and lo-fi thats for sure.'Candy Ooh' on the B-side is a lot more chilled and has a summery comedown vibe to it. Only 300 of these babies so be quick like. Comes in an A3 foldout poster sleeve. Again this is on The Great Pop Supplement. What the label says: gps18 anemones 7" next up is a debut 45 from canadian band anemones. making quite a name for themselves around vancouver with their velvets' like lo-fi psych across self distributed cassettes and cdrs. think 70s new york jonathan richman / television with a pinch of VU coated in lo-fi sweetness! comes in double sided A3 colour ferris wheel poster sleeve withinserts galore. limited to 300 numbered copies. gone at source already.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
