Hey Maximo Park with Books from Boxes on Warp and Brian's walked into the office. He's a big fan so good timing. Indie pop sing along with Johnny Marr (Smiths) style chiming guitar and songs following the pop blue print like a hungry baby on the teat. Inoffensive but mildly uninspiring.

Once again, Maximo Park fans are treated to more exclusive tracks and previously unheard versions across the B sides.·Gracing the CD single is their alternative take on The Proclaimers’ ‘500 Miles’ - recorded exclusively for Jo Whiley’s Live Lounge last month. So adored, it lit up the Radio 1 switchboard with requests for the cover version to be released. ·Backing the second 7” is ‘Don McPhee’, continuing the series of songs inspired by Paul Smith’s fascination with peoples’ lives as he reads their obituaries. Don McPhee was a photographer for The Guardian whilst ‘Mary O Brien’ on ‘Our Velocity’ was Dusty Springfield’s alter ego. These celebrations of individuals’ lives are set to guitarist Duncan Lloyd’s folk inspired, home recorded tunes, and there’ll be more tributes to follow.
