Christ what have I given myself to review this week. I do like to give myself a hard time. To My Boy have a single out called Model. The best thing I can say about these guys is they sound like a more indie version of Erasure. That is clearly not a good thing in my book. Sometimes by Erasure was just the most annoying thing ever (a chuffing classic! Maggie x). This is reasonably catchy mind you. I'm not really sure why someone has a) recorded it, b) released it c) stocked it, d) bought it. The mysteries never cease... Did they ever solve the Bermuda Triangle thing?? That was exciting when you were a kid. Where did those planes go? What the label says: Sam & Jack, better known as To My Boy, return with their brand new single, ‘Model’.  The single is a final precursor (after underground and now sought-after favourites ‘I Am X-Ray’ and ‘The Grid’) of the debut album ‘Messages’.

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
