What we say
This record left our Brian feeling ecstatic.
Right. I still pop into my fave record shop of all time erm...all the time even though they really are quite sick of the sight of some blundering overgrown man child cooing over the latest Hague electro or fall rip off band or whatever. And the kind man at the desk lets me still bark some insane ramblings at him down an old defunct government bunker telephone job just so's I can claim to be not totally useless to society. YET. And I pinched these two CDs off of him right in front of his placid, caring eyes and insisted I should utter words of inconsequence about them lest they may sell a copy or two. Both are on Rephlex, some poxy Londonium disco dongle set-up & the first one is by CEEPHAX who has obviously murdered his crew but gobbled all the acid the greeedy Chelmsford git. His big brother is the world famous TRIANGLESHOVER and is thus infamous for making techno heads frown as to whether they like his spastic jazz vomit or not. Many a brain cell punished & beaten. L'il Ceephax delivers his 2nd Rephlex long player here & actually manages to combine the most effortless organic future rave & head flubblingly satisfying acid flecked TRUE dance music into a neat bundle of utterly lovely proportions. Therefore, the potential annoyance factor is dimmed to a mere atomic fragment of irrelevance in favour of another seamless & joyful oddessey into the cult phenonemon known as "Briandance" (sic) Well, this makes me trip my laddy bits off with glee so it should go down the pub with Volume one & have a celebratory game of Pool & a cold Guinness or maybe just a spangled play fight in the beer garden. Utterly ace & refreshing. Quality music from a man that cares.
What the label says:
*Ceephax aka Andy Jenkinson encompasses an old school acid sensibility crossed with the energy and innovation of the famous "Universal Indicator" acid series, plus a melodic and moody experimental side that is revealed in his mellower moments. *Following his debut remixes of Squarepusher's "Bioslate" on Rephlex in 1998, he has released a multitude of EP's and albums on a variety of labels (Breakin' / Firstcask / WeMe / Bug Klinik / Warp / Lo Recording / Marguerita etc.) Disco fans will remember his blazing remix of Luke Vibert's Kerrier District last year. *"Volume Two" is the hot sequel to "Volume One", which was released in Spring '07, and also follows 'Megalift EP' on Planet Mu and a cassette release on his own Funbox imprint, 'Eurostar Acid'. *The style is Techno / Acid / House / Drum and Bass / Experimental / Ambient.. . Basically all electronic/dance styles, i.e Braindance. Music lovers and Internet fiends will be familiar with his notorious performances on Resonance FM and Radio 1 Breezeblock sessions.
