 This record left our Maggie feeling happy.
Monostation with "Alchemy Number 12" on Limit Switch Records. Distortion drone drives this record making it like being stuck in a lift shaft with long winding cables and motor tonal differences. This is a good name for a band "Motor Tonal Differences". Track 2 and its gone more spacious and landscapey with a faint distortion that threatens like a foreboding cloud. Be a great one for the headphones and a bit of green in the wind pipe/head swell.

A two piece experimental Electronic band, Monostation have been releasing limited edition CDR’s on a number of labels since 1998.
Their first full length album ‘Symmetry of Space’ (2000) which was described at the time as, ‘A Superb mix of psychedelia, funk, techno and house’ and reviewers raved that ‘Monostation will be a name to watch in years to come’
From this audacious start Monostation moved ahead with a more experimental sound, releasing a number of EP’s combining a strong pop sensibility with more drone and soundscape based experiments.
Monostation’s latest project has been The Alchemy Series, an 18 month project comprising 12 limited edition 3” CD singles, with corresponding remixes available for free on their website http:\\www.monostation.net.
The series is available from a number of high profile British music stores including Norman Records (Leeds), Piccadilly Records (Manchester) and Smallfish Records (London), and from a number of on-line sources.
These latest releases have been widely regarded as both the bands most challenging and best work to date, moving towards a much darker and experimental sound.
Monostation have also released a limited edition EP on Smallfish records entitled 'The Greyscale EP' and their second EP for Smallfish 'Half Tonal' will be released shortly. |
