What we say
What the label says:For Fans Of: T-Rex, The Monkees, The Velvet Underground. A glam-pop stomper of T-Rexian proportions "One-Two-Three" is The Loves’ first release since their album "Technicolour" was unleashed upon the world to excellent reviews including The Sunday Times Album of the Week. The EP also features a live version of “Chelsea Girl" from their 2004 album “Love”, “When I Get My Gun", Simon's nasty song of hatred and avengement, and a cover of Jonathan Richman's "Pablo Picasso". The EP was mostly recorded at Soup Studios in London with Simon Trought (The Clientele, Television Personalities, Jim Reid of The Jesus and Mary Chain), eschewing the current trend for annoying high-end staccato angular guitars and wonky elastic bass lines and instead aiming for a sound somewhere between Bolan boogie, “Headquarters”-era Monkees and The Velvet Underground. "Chelsea Girl" was recorded live at St Andy's church in Northern Quebec during the group’s 2nd North American tour late last year. |
