What we say
This record left our Mingus Rude feeling happy.
Bolt Action Five: 'Think Fast' (DIY) Like the label this is instant, up-and-at-em' intuitive pop action with minimal backing provided by analogue keys and drum machine beats. Pub rock meets Bis... guitars and twee keyboard sounds mashed together into a reasonably catchy mess.
What the label says:
Tracks: A. Think Fast AA. Can The Freedom Regulate The Volume?
‘Think Fast / ‘Can The Freedom Regulate The Volume?’ is the second single for London-based Bolt Action Five, following on from debut ‘Tree Friend Tree Foe’ (which featured a remix from super cool knob-twiddlers Kissy Sell Out no less).
In their short lifespan, the quartet - that’s Dan on vocals and keys, Ian on bass, keys, vocals and samplers, Tobias on guitar and Mark on keys, vocals and drum machine duty - have earned themselves not inconsiderable fuss, performing at the first Latitude festival within months of forming, featuring as the ‘Best new band we’ve seen live this week’ in NME following their support slot with Scottish indie-pop legends Bis, and somehow making the hallowed pages of Zoo Magazine (no, we’re not kidding).
