Vernon Elliott Ensemble: Original television music for Ivor The Engine & Pogles Wood (Trunk) Jonny Trunk does it again...cue the 'deja vu' moment. Back, way back in time when television was worth actually watching, kids like me would wait with breath held for the latest edition of our favourite programmes. Following on from the exceptional Clangers music, Vernon Elliott's Ensemble conjures a heart warming concoction of faux-jazz and classical/orchestral pieces tailored for the dramatic moods and lilting moments that takes this author back to carefree days of no responsibilty, food on demand and playing out all day. What's so good about this collection is the inclusion of the spoken word interludes & introductions, especially for the 'Magic Noises'. This is brilliant. Can't wait to share the cildhood nostalgia with my mates. CD for now, vinyl to follow kids...

The Postgate and Smallfilms output has a worldwide following, and this magical music contributes greatly to the impact these legendary TV adventures have had.
The music is wistful, sad, pastoral and utterly charming, the CDs look wonderful, sound brilliant and we’re issuing the it in time for Christmas as they make the prefect musical gift for anyone with a nostalgic bone in their body.
Incidentally, the great music is accompanied by many of the special effects invented by Oliver Postgate for the shows, like Ivor chuffing and magical noises from the Pogles Wood. There really is nothing quite like this anywhere - it’s another classic Trunk Records release.
PACKAGING INFO: CD is full colour, and comes in a beautiful slipcase with 12 page full colour concertina style booklet inside, containing rare images from both TV shows. The booklet also includes images of the original master tapes and original working notes by Oliver Postgate. It really does look beautiful, and is very much in keeping with the naïve style of the shows. The vinyl will have a similar, desirable look and is limited to 500 copies.
