This is a sweet piece of pre your own kitchen sink age melodrama. Boy girl harmonies with sincere sounding Scottish accents and acoustic and subtle electric guitars playing off each other.

The stand out track, ideal for sitting back and remenicing is Bellshill Station, a good indicator of the bands talent for ballads and hopefully a sign of the standard of future releases. I like to think that any Gregory's Girls samples have been through copyright here but to be honest, if they've not, I don't think Gregory or his burd would be to bothered.

On the negative side, the CD though very attractively presented, is only 3" so you can't play it in the car or PC. However, all in all 7 tracks for £3 is worth taking a risk on most of the time, but in this case it should be a must buy for the melodic music seeker. You would have to be a most dedicated hardcore Jungle addict to not appreciate this.

The Just Joan's 'Virgin Lips' 3" CD on WeePop! has won me over with its sweet charms. It's as humble and honest as indie pop gets. This Glaswegian outfit have a staggering amount of cutesey appeal. They make me want to get on the train to Glasgow just to give them a big cuddle. With lyrics like "Dumped by my lassie in Strathy' A reference to Strathclyde, a scottish county. They sing about real life, love and heartbreak. Includes an ace cover of The Cure's classic 'Pictures Of You'. This is extremely endearing. Lovely stuff.

The Just Joans formed in north lanarkshire in 1997, and released their debut album, "last tango in motherwell", in 2005 on ivan lendil records. They have described this mini album, "Virgin Lips", as a "shangri-las" esque tribute to small town teenage angst! Brimming with humor and hidden references, boy/girl coloquial scottish vocals, keyboards/pianos, banjos and acoustic guitar, this is a perfect slice of skewed pop music!
