What we say
This record left our Phil feeling unmoved.
British Sea Power have a new album out called 'Do You Like Rock Music'. This is clearly entrenched in the now as it sounds like they've swallowed Arcade Fire and become them..... mind you a couple of the tracks remind me a bit of Mew... they're not quite as David Bowie as they used to be which is refreshing I will say. It's been produced by Efrim Menuck (Godspeed), Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire) and Graham Sutton.... these 3 lucky blighters have given the album a completely massive epic sound yet it's reasonably spacious and airy sounding at the same time. This isn't enormously my thing yet I'm pleased they're out there doing this and would much rather stuff like this was in the charts than the gash that currently subsides in the peoples popular choices....

• ‘Do You Like Rock Music?’ is the stunning new record from our national treasures, British Sea Power! It’s hard to imagine how they could top their previous efforts but they’ve surpassed themselves and delivered their best album to date!
• It’s already in pole position for one of the albums of 2008. On hearing a sampler, The Guardian exclaimed, “mark my words, this monstrous Arcade Fire-style explosion of heart-shattering reverb, battle-cry drums & choral melody will be the festival song of 2008” about ‘Waving Flags’ and The Sunday Times made ‘Atom’, track of the week.
