What we say

Rating: unmoved This record left our Phil feeling unmoved.

The British Sea Power are back with a new single called Waving Flags and as you'd expect there's no massive change to their formula. There's bits of David Bowie, Psychedelic Furs in there... Ant thinks the guys voice sounds like Chris Martin. I think some of the music reminds me of the more bombastic moments of early Arcade Fire. On 3 formats and a super special multibuy deal which spells bargain. For what it is it's not a bad tune at all.

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
