What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Mingus Rude feeling happy.

Frightened Rabbit: 'It's Christmas So We'll Stop' (Fat Cat) In which a choir is backed by a huge sounding folky type band, coming across to these ears like a blend of The Proclaimers backed by The Twilight Sad (sez Phil). It's got this huge sound with swooping strings and that melancholy end of year vibe. Typical Christmas release with a flip of an a capella choir, well, chomp on a mince pie

What the label says:

Super limited Christmas single (500 copies) from hotly tipped  Glaswegian three-piece Frightened Rabbit.
Following hot on the heels of the critically acclaimed ‘Be Less Rude’ 7” and the ‘Sing The Greys’ album, which got 8/10 in NME and was named as Steve Lamacq’s Album Of The Week on Radio One, this forthcoming single is limited to 500 copies and will not be available on any other formats once sold out. An unconventional three-piece with a clearly defined personality, and a gift for being able to nail a near perfect pop song, Frightened Rabbit convey candid tales of ordinary folk with a wry, acerbic wit via an eloquent, emotive, modern garage-pop aesthetic.
This release bridges the gap between ‘Sing The Greys’ and the forthcoming ‘Midnight Organ Fight’ album due late Spring 2008.
An awesome, charismatic live band, Frightened Rabbit are also fond of touring, as they will no doubt show in the coming dates (both solo and with We Are Scientists) throughout November and December.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
