US R&B diva Rhianna's 'Umbrella' has seemingly worked its way into the consciousness of many people and deservedly so. It is a good pop record and just a really sweet tune. So Mechanical Bride put their own slant on it with a gentle piano refrain and tender female vocal. It's a successful cover in the sense that it stands up in its own right and even if you're not familiar with the original you can still get with it. Ltd to 500 on 1 sided etched 7" on Transgressive.
