After the tremendous comeback single 'Darling', Our fave barbed Glaswegian Sons & Daughters stomp back with their 2nd full lengther, 'This Gift' & to these ears it's a blissful, harmony stuffed triumph. It's all in the feisty lyrics spat with an irresistable sultry sneer & the simple but glorious post Spector 60's sheen that's condensed their sleazy sound into a widescreen balloon of noir pop joy. One blatant single in waiting has the same timeless floor filling nous that made 'A Girl like You' by Edwyn Collins such a smasheroonie for all generations. For your money you get some of the best guitar pop to spill out of the Highlands in a long time. The album works as a kind of call to arms, a real nugget of hugely accessible rama-lama with a boy/girl feel that screams pure exuberance and a double generation encompassing whirlwind of classic pop hooks, rousing chorus's & energy. They haven't lost their 'edge' as such, just learned to write a complete album brimming wi' cracking tunes, not a couple of singles & some filler from this sexy quartet. The Scots Abba anyone? Ace.
