This is the splendidly unique debut album Burnin’ Burnin’ Burnin’ from The Sargasso Trio, a three piece signed to Boy Scout Recordings. Tim ‘Love’ Lee is responsible for Boy Scout, founded after he moved to Brooklyn.  He left behind the London trends in search of some wholesome sounds, some heartfelt sentiment and the type of music that time can’t taint.  Charmed into the folk scene in Brooklyn he picked up some acts, Turner Cody and Dawn Landes and crossed the water once again to find his British equivalent, The Sargasso Trio.
Sargasso Trio first met in Norwich’s very own 40 piece marching samba band, but finding it impossible to invite all their band mates back to join in their Sunday afternoon jam sessions, soon established themselves as a more manageable three piece. Bringing together their shared loves of country, Latin and 80s electro, Sargasso Trio create a truly contemporary English folk sound where vocal harmonies, country guitars and Casio keyboards create songs of sublime beauty.
On this album you can’t help but notice the breadth of genres that inspire this band.  Hints of Kings Of Convenience to Joan Baez, whether it’s playing the bongos or their Korg, The Sargasso Trio have made an eclectic album quite different to that of other British folk acts.  Emily, Pete and Ben are three very talented musicians that have all been involved in music projects and bands before the band formed.  Emily and Pete both fronting Norwich based bands and Ben drumming in bands in his hometown of Croydon.
Having just finished a very successful tour with their aforementioned label pals, The Sargasso Trio live really is a crime to miss.  It’s a captivating intimate affair that see the three take it turns to sing, drum play an array of instruments including a red sauce pan
