Nowt like looking after your Health the grinning people on the telly whine at me as i tuck into my nightly bottle of benylin, 40 fags & a tindaloo. Fuck those fools man. I'm toxic mama! And my ears are freshly bleeding to the warped tribal spazzcore cacophony that is Health's new CD on Lovepump International. This is what would happen if Liars accidently took loads of mushrooms, went out wrestling some grizzlys in the woods, killed a deer and ate it raw, came back to the woodcabin, drank 14 pints of Jack Daniels & chamomile then went into their recording basement, nude & smeared in each others creative juices. This is music from a triple wrong mind mental but will appeal to absolutely anyone who digs gibbering percussive psycho trance rock. Like me. I could see these folks proppig up the extraordinary Upset the Rythym roster. It's got that total unhinged but exhilarating free vibe to it but a lot of discipline. So you get parts that sound like a bag of cartoon itchy's being drowned in acid by an army of scratchys. IE those "Melt Banana" moments. Then you've got a lot of heavy, heavy percussive madness going on that makes me think of a Gang Gang Dance on steroids. Lots of spooky atmospherics but it's all surprisingly accesible & coherent. Which makes it a titan of this weeks stack of surprisingly excellent new albums. So dig Liars? You'll absolutely shit yr kegs at this headscrewfest!!

THE BANG JARS, THROWS YOUR HEAD BACK; ECHOING WITH A METALLIC CLANG THE DRUM AND STICK BECOME A JAW, THE BANG BECOMES YOUR DAGGER TEETH, SCRAPING DOWN AND BREAKING ON RUSTED SHRAPNEL. 'HEAVEN' BEGAN WITH SHIMMERING FEEDBACK, BUT THAT HAS BEEN SCATTERED AND NOW WASHES OVER THE WOKEN RHYTHM LIKE A MUTANT GRAVITY; HUNG HEAVY AND PHYSICAL WITH SOME GREEN EMISSION. THERES THE FIRST MOAN OF SENTIENT LIFE; A WAILING SOFTENS AND HARDENS WITH DRUMS THAT PICK UP AND PEPPER SPLASHES OF CYMBAL, PISS OR OIL MARKING TRACKS.
