What the label says:

This 12” is the second in Wrong Music’s ‘Rave like a .....” series which pay homage too the uk rave sound. Volume one featured 4 hardcore classics from Oen-flux and, Planet Mu’s, Chevron. This time it’s the infamous DJ Scotch Egg and Shitmat’s turn to Bring the Hardcore! DJ Scotch Egg opens his side with a DJ Friendly (over 3mins long!) gameboy cover of ‘Bonkers’ star Hixxy’s Happy hardcore Benchmark track ‘Toytown’. In fact it’s less of a cover when it gets going, feeling like a pumping 8 bit techno party. The ep progresses with another 3 tracks each one with a catchy melody as the next. On the last choon we get a heartfelt emo pop/hh banger, sounding like Bach using a gameboy instead of a piano. This could be Egg’s most dance¬floor release too date. After the massive success of 2006’s ‘HANG THE DJ’ and 2007’s ‘GROOVERIDER’ albums Shitmat com¬bines both their styles for his side of the vinyl. The first track ‘Nuff Respect’ merges pounding Remarc-esque jungle beats, ragga vocals and a few cheeky pop samples to make another post-jungle classic whilst gabber/hardcore tracks ‘Loveheart Trilogy’ and ‘Happy Ending’ take Shitmat’s mashed up sense of humour to a euphoric crescendo.

About the humble 12":

The 12" is the big brother of records as it's an fatter version of the 7", with a vast scope for an array of remixes and B sides. They are slightly less portable their smaller inched brethren but they're by no means inferior. Often the grooves are spaced wider apart and thus sound much much better. You can fit ample tracks on and if worse comes to worse they make fine plates (should your crockery go awol). Yes, there's a hole but holes are easy to sort out. Once again they're available on many different colours and guises. The best thing about a 12" is the potential vastness of the artwork. Also playable on many speeds!!
