What the label says:

“The Indelicates are political punk musos attempting to bring the poetry back into pop” – THE GUARDIAN
“It’s impossible to overstate how much music today needs The Indelicates;
in our darkest hour, hope may yet be at hand”  THE FLY
“This is intelligent, poetic indie-rock. In other words, it bears no resemblance to The View, The Fratellis
or any other examples of that kind of nonsense” – ARTROCKER

The single to precede the album American Demo and the 3rd on Weekender sees the band up the politics whilst maintaining their eye for a catchy hook laden pop rock crossover. Produced by Brian O’Shaughnessy (Primal Scream/Felt).

The band are a 5 piece but as the artwork and the lyrics show quite remarkably, The Indelicates give voice to two formidable young poets. Simon and Julia actually met at a poetry slam (which he won). Simon Indelicate was a performance poet and songwriter for several years before forming the band. In that capacity he performed at the Glastonbury festival and in the grounds of Hastings Castle and supported such specialist celebrities as Murray Lachlan Young and John Cooper Clark. Julia Indelicate was a founder member of The Pipettes before leaving to concentrate on the more politically charged Indelicates. The band are also famous for their “Versions Project” where they let their fans remix their songs as much as they like before making them available for download from their website.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
