Rating: happy This record left Ben Keeler feeling happy.

This track reminds me of early Genesis when Gabriel was still with them, but with a slight 'My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts' Eno-Byrne tinge, and a Grizzly Bear-style breakdown!

What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Mingus Who feeling happy.

Yeasayer: 'Wait For The Summer' (We Are Free) Immediately recall some sixties throwback with vocal harmonies to the for, jangly strum, humming background vocals, handclaps and a playful nursery rhyme style approach to vocal arrangements. Can't think who else they sound like but it has a certain folky attitude to it, so fans of Tunng may like it. It actually sounds alright on second listen, not that I'd buy it or have it in my collection or owt. There's a certain Pentangle organic-ness to it, the vocals on the second track remind our Ant of the vocalist from Tool. It's the percussion that drives the second track I like.

What the label says:

Yeasayer will release a brand new version of ‘Wait For the Summer’ b/w a previously unreleased live favourite, ‘Final Path’ via We Are Free Records.
Invoking a new enthusiasm, and currently on a sold out tour in the US, Yeasayer have added a second night in London at the ICA due to public demand.   The band follow their UK and European shows with SXSW and will be back in the UK in May for the ATP Festival plus festivals throughout the summer.
The video for ‘Wait For The Summer’ is a ground breaking animated clip. The single will be available on limited edition 7” vinyl (800 copies) and digitally.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
