What the label says:

EMERALDS is Mark McGuire, John Elliott & Steve Hauschildt. They are currently based in and around Cleveland, Ohio. Direct descendants of the history of adventurous punk, post-punk, whatever music spilling out of Ohio the last 35 years or so from Pere Ubu, Devo, Rocket From The Tombs, The Raspberries, The Cramps, Dead Boys, Great Plains, Fuzzhead, et al. EMERALDS is the sound of exploration of space/time conundrums utilizing vintage synthesizer beauty and guitar experimentation. Unfolding sweet-leaf shifts and gorgeous curves of kosmiche abandon are played with devotion and desire. With a palpitating discography of cassettes, cdrs etc both self-released and on righteous labels (Hanson, Gods Of Tundra, American Tapes, Chondritic Sound) EMERALDS have already distinguished themselves as new yet timeless, young yet ageless. TUSCO TERROR was introduced to us by fellow Ohioan (at that time) Leslie Keffer, (who’s Feels Like Frenching LP we released last year) as her favorite band in Ohio. She sent us some cassette releases and we were immediately blitzed. The sound of reckless confrontation, living room shambles, chaotic slipstreams and glorious friendship noise crackled from one brain stem to another. TUSCO TERROR resides in Akron, OH when they’re not wheeling around the country setting up in any bewildered basement scene or delirious donut shop across the USA to wig out anyone fortunate enuff to be “there”.

About the humble LP:

The LP is the daddy of formats. 12" inches of sheer joy. The LP adds to the glory of the 12" record as it can be played at a slower speed (33rpm instead of the usual 45rpm for singles), consequently more musical joy can be had. Played on a decent deck the sound of an LP is about a million times better than any other format. They look fantastic...... a nice gatefold sleeve with a information rich inner sleeve will keep you entertained for hours even before your stylus has chance to make eye contact with it's 12" prey. An essential part of musical heritage which will never be forgotten. It still does play at a multitude of speeds but as it's recorded to be played slower they normally sound ridiculous sped up. Though double albums can make up for this slight inadequacy by ramming more tunes into your ears for your money. Utterly essential.
