What the label says:

Stump were an Anglo-Irish indie/experimental/rock group featuring Mick Lynch (vocals), Kev Hopper (bass), Rob McKahey (drums) and Chris Salmon (guitar) formed in London in 1983.
Their first release was a four track EP Mud on a Colon released in 1986 through the Ron Johnson record label. This was followed by a self released mini album Quirk Out produced by Hugh Jones which included their cult hit Buffalo.

Continuous UK touring, regular coverage in the UK music press and a memorable performance of Buffalo on Channel 4’s The Tube ensured that Quirk Out stayed in the UK Indie Charts for 26 weeks, peaking at number 2. An album A Fierce Pancake released in 1988 was recorded in Berlin and London produced by Holger Hiller with assistance from Stephen Street. The album did not bring the crossover success the label had hoped for and the band split before any new material was released.

This is the first official compilation from one of the UK’s best post punk bands.

It contains 4 previously unavailable tracks.

Sleeve notes and mastering by bassist Kev Hopper.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

'If he'd have known about the way they burnt witches and that, Jesus would have been mad. But if Jesus had seen U2 he would've been very mad indeed. Jesus would throw bottles at U2.'
