Someone's commissioned an EP of remixes for M.I.A.s 'Paper Planes', by far my fave off her wonderful 'Kala' LP. The DFA joint needs stamping on, just shit minimal white boy funk that clashes with the vocal. Bastards. The Afrikan Boy & Diplo mixes are totally superfluous (Diplo just sticks a tough boy rap on the original the lazy chancer) Scottie B at least makes an effort by putting an old skool funk break (used in every rave hit circa 1991) under it and pissing around with the pitch. Utterly pointless though. It's got a DJ Eli remix of Bamboo Banga though! Oh hang on...that's shit too. Buy this for the original or just forget this shallow clubmegamix exercise and buy the album in all it's glory! 12" only on XL What the label says:    1. Paper Planes    2. About the humble 12":

The 12" is the big brother of records as it's an fatter version of the 7", with a vast scope for an array of remixes and B sides. They are slightly less portable their smaller inched brethren but they're by no means inferior. Often the grooves are spaced wider apart and thus sound much much better. You can fit ample tracks on and if worse comes to worse they make fine plates (should your crockery go awol). Yes, there's a hole but holes are easy to sort out. Once again they're available on many different colours and guises. The best thing about a 12" is the potential vastness of the artwork. Also playable on many speeds!!
