What we say

Rating: happy This record left our BRIAN D feeling happy.

I'm unsure about White Denim being a feasible fashion statement after the singer P.W. Long from redneck Texan growl rockers Mule accused me of rampant homosexuality whilst chatting to him at one of his hillbilly line dancing parties. White Denim are also some roughly recorded, skinny legged rockers. Kind of mixing turn-of-the-80's scratchy pu(nk)b rock with some eye opening meandering freeform dub workout thang provides one of the plus points for 'Let's Talk About It', a real DIY rehearsal room style wig out that doesn't really sound like much else around at the moment. One of those bands that fills in the gaps between all the uniform dross and makes buying indie 7"s a bit more interesting. The flip (no title!) is a right loft party riot, really spacey, celebratory & all over the shop. These unhinged freaks are from Texas too, like Mule, but obviously these guys don't make a living drinking horse piss in trailers :o}Two tone new wave wax on Full Time Hobby, who do seem to have their finger on the pulse at the mo'

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
