Stupid, scallies, over the top...all words the Metros may be sick of by the end of the year. But now they're having the time of their young lives. Stop start guitars, a brass section and in lead singer Saul, who appears to be a rude boy for the mobile phone generation, a wailing totem singing about emos and girls. All would seem unnecessary on a bigger band but right now, it's certainly working for the Metros.

Check out Madness(early days), Squeeze and Dr Feelgood if this is your type of music!

What the label says:

In 12 months The Metros have gone from nothing to selling out headline tours across the country, cementing themselves as one of the best bands on the underage circuit, over 500,000 views of their My Space site, and bagging the coveted spot on the MTV Spanking new music tour. The Lippy Peckham upstarts will release single ‘Last of The Lookers’ through 1965 Records on 2nd June. Produced by Baxter Dury, the single includes B-sides Education Pt. 1 and a collaboration with fellow 1965 artist Toddla T ‘Clubhouse Riddim’.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.

'Moves like a disco lion - magnificent and proud.'
